WHC was established in March 1998 as a vehicle to provide a legal and governance framework for the Faculty’s research activities. It enabled academics and research units to conduct their work within a compliant, well‑managed environment.

Established in 1998, Wits Health Consortium (WHC) has developed a strong and credible performance track record over nearly three decades, delivering high‑quality research, administrative, and operational support to the University of the Witwatersrand’s Faculty of Health Sciences, our divisions, and global partners and funders.
